I took this jacket up a rainy alpine route and the GORE-TEX Pro shell kept me bone dry even through a sudden hailstorm. The helmet-compatible hood cinches down tight enough that I didn’t get any face spray while scrambling. For a hardshell this tough, it still moves well when I’m reaching for holds.

The pit zips on this jacket are a lifesaver during high-output climbs—lets out heat without having to stop and unzip fully. Took it through some nasty wind-driven rain last week and stayed bone dry underneath. Exactly the kind of bombproof shell I needed for alpine conditions.

Got caught in a freak hail storm halfway up a couloir and the GORE-TEX Pro shell shrugged it off completely - no wet shoulders, no clammy feeling underneath. It's stiff when new but that's exactly what you want when you're scraping against rock all day, and it packs down small enough for a summit ba
