Category: Belay Rappel Devices

The most versatile belay/rappel device with assisted braking mode from Edelrid made with a hybrid design that uses ultra-light aluminum in the main body and stainless steel for extra durability in high abrasion areas.  This variation of this type of device strikes a balance between function, ease-of-use, and the versatility of switching between traditional manual use and an assisted braking function by merely sliding a simple mechanism.  Easily belay either off of your harness or directly off of a solid anchor.  A lead climber can belay a seconding climbing partner directly off of a solid anchor, and then transfer the device to their harness when swapping leads to be able to rig the device to belay their climbing partner who will lead the next pitch without having to re-feed the climbing rope through the device.  A lead climber also has the ability to belay one or two seconding climbers simultaneously off of a solid anchor. This device also includes an auto-block release hole that accepts a carabiner for whenever it is necessary to "un-lock" the device and give slack when it is under tension from a seconding climber while the lead climber is belaying that seconding climber directly off of a solid anchor.

James Y. ★★★★★

Took this on a multi-pitch last weekend and the assisted braking made rapping down way less nerve-wracking than my old tube style. The aluminum body keeps it light on the harness but the steel wear surfaces give me confidence it'll last.

John M. ★★★★★

The stainless steel wear points are holding up way better than the aluminum body on my old device, and the assisted braking actually grabs on icy ropes. Switching between belay and rappel mode one-handed took some practice, but now it's second nature.

Eva G. ★★★★★

Rapped off a multi-pitch last weekend and the stainless steel wear points still look brand new, which was my main worry with an aluminum body. The assisted braking caught a fall when my partner slipped on a slab and it held without any fuss. Only gripe is it's a bit bulky for alpine routes, but for
