Lightweight merino wool hoodies became one of the most popular layering pieces years ago at our Seattle Retail Store. This new piece from Smartwool is now blended with TENCELL™ Lyocell for extra durability and moisture management, and make it one of the only models remaining available anywhere that we were able to find of this style. These are often worn either next to the skin or as a layering piece in the winter, or as a hooded sun shirt in the summer.

The Tencel blend makes all the difference—it’s somehow cooler against the skin than pure merino, yet still traps warmth when the wind picks up. I’ve thrown it on over a tee for morning walks and under a shell for chilly evenings, and it’s held its shape after three washes without a hint of pilling.
