  • An out-of-print guidebook completely redone and brought back by reader demand
  • 80 challenging, but non-technical, ascents in Washington, plus 5 traverses

Alpine scrambling is a form of nontechnical mountaineering that falls somewhere between high altitude hiking and rock climbing. Ropes and other aids typically are not needed. This new, fully revised second edition features 85 routes, including 25 all-new scrambles not in the first edition, as well as a new chapter covering five high-alpine traverses in the North Cascades.

All routes are displayed on maps, many of which indicate alternative routes to the primary way up. Keep stats? Then you’ll also appreciate the all-new “scramble statistics” table.

Matthew ★★★★★

Finally grabbed the 2nd edition after my old copy fell apart, and the route descriptions for the traverses alone are worth it. Having 80 non-technical ascents in one book makes planning weekend scrambles way easier.

Jacob D. ★★★★★

I've been hunting for this out-of-print guide for years, so I grabbed the 2nd edition the second it was reissued. The 80 non-technical routes plus the 5 traverses are laid out clearly enough that I've already picked my first scramble for next month.

Aurora ★★★★★

Didn't think I'd ever see this back in print, so I grabbed it the day it showed up. The 80 route descriptions are detailed enough to actually plan a day out, and the five traverses alone are worth it. Finally getting to tick off some of these scrambles.
